BIO-CLEAN INSTRUCTIONS

HOME DRAINS

Totally blocked pipe: Get the drain to take water using plunger or cable. If it can not be cabled, add 1 Tbsp. in 1 pint of water each day. Use a plunger daily. Since the bacteria must eat through the length of the blockage this could take days or even weeks (but that’s better than replacing your pipes!)

If extended treatment and plunging do not restore full flow, some inorganic matter (e.g. toy, glass, toothbrush, bobby pins) is in the line and will have to be removed manually.

INITIAL TREATMENT

Always apply Bio-Clean when drains will not be used for 6 to 8 hours (at bedtime for example). Apply Bio-Clean to each drain for 5 consecutive days. If a drain remains sluggish, extend treatment a few more days before going to maintenance schedule.

Mix recommended amount with water: 1 pint water per tablespoon used. Lukewarm water is best – never hot.

Floor drains, washing machine drains, and toilets - Apply 2 tablespoons and add 2 pints lukewarm water.

All other drains -  Apply 1 tablespoon and 1 pint of water.

MAINTENANCE

Apply Bio-Clean once a month. Mix the required amount of  Bio-Clean with lukewarm water. Amount used is the same as in initial treatment.

Never use other drain products while using Bio-Clean.

On multi-story buildings start initial treatment on the lowest level (e.g. basement) and progress to the top. Complete the 5 day treatment on one floor before going to the next highest floor.

Flow will improve within 1 to 3 weeks. During this time a stoppage may occur due to chunks of waste loosened. Use plunger or cable to restore flow. Do not become discouraged this means Bio-Clean is removing the build-up and with periodic treatments will prevent re-accumulation.

Mouthwash should be disposed of into toilet.

Hair digests very slowly and sometimes builds up in great quantities. Severe build up may require daily treatment for thirty to sixty days, unless the bulk of the blockage is first removed manually. Once removed manually or with extended treatment, regular maintenance applications will keep hair deposits from reforming.

When garbage disposal, dishwasher or washing machine is connected to septic: One Tbsp. of Bio-Clean in 1 pint water should be added each WEEK to each of these drains.

Very hard water causes slime in toilet tanks.  To eliminate add 2 Tbsp. as needed Do not flush for several hours.

GARBAGE DISPOSAL ODORS

Mix 1 tablespoon Bio-Clean with 1 pint water.  Turn on disposal. Dump mixture in and quickly turn off disposal.  Do not run for several hours.  Repeat as needed.

SEPTIC TANKS, CESSPOOLS

INITIAL TREATMENT

From the chart below determine the amount of Bio-Clean for your tank.  Each week for four weeks, add product to the toilet and flush.

Tanks Size        Amt. Bio-Clean
500 gallon          1/2 cup
1,000 gallon        1 cup
1,500 gallon        1 1/2 cup
(cesspools: double the amount of Bio-Clean)

MAINTENANCE TREATMENTS

Add 1 cup of Bio-Clean monthly.  Pour product into toilet and flush.

Special Cases
If you have backups, ponding, or odors you may need to pump BEFORE adding Bio-Clean.  Check your tank. If it has a hard crust more than six inches thick OR more than 12 inches build-up on the bottom, pump first.  Break up crusts less than six inches and slosh initial treatment over the top.

Wait 2 - 3 weeks after each pumping before adding product.

Many house hold products kill the bacteria your system MUST HAVE.  Please ask the company you purchased Bio-Clean from for the leaflet "How To Stop Killing The Biological Action In Your Septic System/Cesspool".  Using Biodegradable cleaners helps your tank/cesspool work better.

If You Have Well Water:  Acid water is very detrimental to biological action and plumbing.  You can prevent costly repair bills by contacting us if you have acid well water.

SEPTIC FIELDS

Absorption fields may be restored by treating the distribution box or the lateral lines.  Nothing is more effective for biodegrading waste in septic systems than Bio-Clean.  But no product can fix mechanical problems.   We recommend Bio-Clean as part of a program of preventative maintenance which includes regular inspection of the tanks and baffles, and the proper use of water and drainage systems.

CAT BOX ODORS, RV'S BOATS AND OUTHOUSES

Cat litter Boxes:  Sprinkle 1/8" Bio-Clean in bottom of Pan.  Add litter.  Sprinkle another 1/8" on tip.  Add more as needed.

Motor Homes, Boats:  After first use of facilities, sprinkle 1 Tbsp. into the toilet (2Tbsp. for 3 or more people).  Thhis will last until tank is full (up to 5 days).  If an odor is noticed before dumping occurs, an additional 1 Tbsp. may be used.

Outhouses (residential):  Mix 1 cup of Bio-Clean in 1 Gal. water.  Pour over the waste using a sprinkling can.  Keep waste wet by spraying periodically with clear water.  Treat once a month with 1/2 cup of Bio-Clean in 1/2 gal. of water.
